A member of the Brown family called Mr. Rooter of Ventura, California. The family was in a panic because their kitten had fallen down an open pipe. They could hear the kitten but could not see her. Technicians Chris and Don were dispatched to the customers’ home. They looked over the situation and located the kitten using their camera. They dug up the line and rescued little "Josie."

Later, the Brown family sent a card to Chris and Don and everyone at Mr. Rooter of Ventura. The card read:

On Friday, Christmas Eve day, I was preparing for our family gathering the next day when the water in my home completely stopped! Of course, my boiler had also stopped working, because of the lack of water.

You could just imagine the turmoil this would cause trying to prepare for Christmas Dinner the next day! What I was faced with was no cooking, showering, or heating on the coldest night so far, and Christmas would be ruined! I had a large party planned, with family coming from [all over the east coast].

I contacted every plumber I could think of, and they all said there was nothing they could do until Sunday, the day after Christmas. Then I remembered a company I had used before—Mr. Rooter. When I called Mr. Rooter, I was told that they would be more than happy to help and a technician would be out within the hour.

He showed up soon after, and told me he would have to pull up the well pump, which would not be able to get done until Sunday. Well, when I heard this I could feel the tears coming. It looked like Christmas would have to be canceled!

Our neighbors offered us their home to shower and dress so we could attend Christmas dinner at my father’s. When we went back to our house to gather presents to take to my family, the phone rang. It was Jessica from Mr. Rooter. They had felt so badly about our situation, that they wanted to know if they could come on Christmas morning to fix repair the problem! We were so relieved and touched that someone would ruin their own Christmas celebration to help us, that we were speechless. We agreed right away and thanked her.

When we awoke on Christmas morning we hurried to call the rest of the family, to tell them what had happened and that there might not be Christmas dinner!

At 10:00 a.m., George and Mike, two technicians from Mr. Rooter, arrived at our door. They went through a series of tests and decided to pull the pump, which took hours. They found that it was an electrical problem and repaired it.

I could not thank them enough. MR. ROOTER HAD SAVED MY FAMILY’S CHRISTMAS! Thanks to Mr. Rooter employees George, Mike, and Jessica, who found it in their hearts to help a family of strangers on Christmas so that we had the most beautiful and thankful holiday ever!
